We don't have any insight into the future of Governor Palin and we certainly would not endorse any candidate at this stage. There is, however, one thing that makes Sarah Palin very special. And it goes beyond her ability to embody a kind of archetypal patriotic superwoman (gun-toting, God-fearing, moose-hunting, snow-mobiling governor with 5 kids). If the Starship Enterprise had a Captain Palin she, like Kirk, would be personally beaming down to the planet to wrestle with (and perhaps seduce) the alien. There is something very visceral and instinctive about her appeal.

But the really telling reaction to Mrs. Palin is to be found on the left. Unlike the advice to which leftists usually treat us (i.e. that conservatives should moderate their positions and not be so offensive as to disagree with them), their real advice is to be found in their own behavior. Leftists simply go nuts when they feel that their power is threatened. It is incumbent upon us to pay attention to who really scares them. And it’s been a long time since I've seen the enemies of freedom as scared as they are by Sarah Palin. (Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh produce comparable reactions, but it is more calculated, less instinctive and neither of them will be running for anything in 2012.) It’s like the left-wing’s responses to Clarence Thomas and Margaret Thatcher rolled into one. (Imagine Bob Dole or John McCain causing the collective voice of the left to crack!)  Is it possible that she’s really unelectable as we are told?  Sure.  But the same thing was said about Reagan and could have been said about Obama. Indeed the left reacts to her the way we should have reacted to Obama.  I think we should trust their judgment here.  They might be onto something. At the least, it behooves a Free Market Warrior to pay close attention.
