Do Something

Having no power in the federal government is frustrating, particularly at a time when the Federal government has (or wants) power over everything.   But there are things we can (and must) do.

Take to the streets.
Conservatives are horrible at this.  But desperate times call for desperate measures.  If you haven't attended a "Tea Party" protest, make sure you do.  This site will help to publicize any event sponsored by like minded organizations to stop the socialization of Washington. Nor is this the only option.  We strongly encourage groups to stage creative protests against governmental abuses.  The point is to get attention, sometimes by illustrating absurdity with absurdity.  The socialists in Washington and their allies in the media are hard at work creating the illusion that everyone loves this "change" that's happening.  Don't miss an opportunity to demonstrate how you really feel. Here's a place to share protest ideas.

Starve the government:  If you have the ability to make more than $250,000 per year, don't do it this year.  They're just going to take it away from you anyhow.  It is time we seriously thought about an entrepreneur's strike.  Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."  Patriotic Americans need to make sure this happens sooner as opposed to later, especially when the alternative is to keep working, not for our own benefit but only to strengthen our socialist masters.

Starve the government II:  Don't buy government bonds! Going back to World War II, investing in U.S. savings bonds has been considered almost synonymous with patriotism. Clearly, today, patriotism requires that we not lend to the government, for roughly the same reason  you wouldn't buy a bottle of whiskey for an alcoholic. Our dysfunctional government needs intervention, not enabling.

Learn:  As much as I'm appalled daily by our ideological opponents who would throw away the work of millions of Americans over hundreds of years, in order to adopt a socialist model that has been proven to fail; as much as that appalls me, I am more appalled every day (100 times a day!) by people who are entirely ignorant.  Ignorant of what's happening in the world today and what has happened in our history.  They are the overwhelming majority of the electorate. And while you may be inclined to think of them as being politically neutral, they are anything but.  It is the ignorant who, coddled by the public school system, are the intellectual cannon fodder of the left.  Without knowledge of basic economic principles, it is easy to believe that government protections such as minimum wage laws help poor workers (when, in fact, they hurt them), that government regulations curb the abuse of big businesses and protect consumers (they do the opposite), or that there is such a thing as "an economic stimulus package". Our long failing educational system has finally produced a generation so dumb that they can be convinced that Nancy Pelosi paying trillions of dollars to all her friends and supporters out of the public coffer actually stimulates the economy.  Likewise, our American heritage is doomed to be thrown away for nothing by a generation too unlearned to appreciate it.  You can't afford to not be able to counter any of the specious arguments raised by the other side.  It's not enough that you know they are wrong.  You need to win.  As always, we're here to help.  Send us the questions you don't  know how to answer.  If we can't help you, we'll hook you up with someone who can.

Teach (especially your children)  Everyday at our stores, I hear sad stories from customers about lost children who have become caught up Obamamania.  Perhaps they will wake up and come back some day when they're old enough to know better (although some people never get to know better) or when we have all paid such a price for their folly that it becomes indisputable.  But this doesn't just happen.  Children abandon institutions which their elders have failed to fully explain to them.  This is one of the reasons that the public educational system has been attacking American and Western history for years. Make no mistake, your children are being taught that America and the Western tradition and free markets are all bad.  They can only be redeemed by non-westerners and reformers who will replace capitalism with socialism.  You see the path was being laid for Obama before anyone even knew his name.  I have 6 children, and I try to teach them about the greatness of America and freedom everyday.  And not just as catch phrases.  I want them to understand the details and the facts.  I have refuted every lie they brought home from school.  Until their teachers learned not to bother.  (Today I send them to private religious schools.  It should be noted, however, that even there some NEA dogma still slips through.)  I remember watching School House Rock (Do you remember that?) with my seven year old daughter.  We were watching "Mother Necessity"  which is a musical history of some of America's greatest inventors (Edison, Henry Ford, Eli Whitney, etc.)  I asked my daughter a question:  Why do you think" I said, "that all these inventions were invented by Americans, when Americans make up only a very small percent of the world's population?"  After a moment of thought she said, "I'm not sure exactly, but I know it has something to do with freedom".  Well, damned straight it has something to do with freedom  and woe betide any people who can't connect those dots.

Put a bumper sticker on your car; a t-shirt on your body, a mug on your desk, a poster on your wall.  The media (by which I mean, not only radio and television and newspapers but book stores and movie theatres and TV shows) are dedicated to creating the impression that Barack Obama is not controversial.  The reason we created Free Market Warrior in the first place is to counter the pro-Obama t-shirts, books and posters found in every non-political store at the mall.  If people do not see an alternative they are, in effect, living in North Korea.  With an infallible leader whose praises must be announced perpetually from every public square and corner.  We don't want to live there.  You don't want to bring your children up there.

And something else.  People tell me every day that they're afraid.  "I'd be afraid to wear that!"  they say.  I don't doubt that the fear is real and even, in some respects, rational.  This is what those who would create totalitarian governments set out to do.  Dissent is always quelled with fear.  But does that sound like America to you?  Moreover, our ancestors (biological and ideological) fought the British, the Spanish, the Germans, and Russians (as well as each other)--all empires of global reach, each at the height of its power.  Millions of our countrymen lay down their lives.  And you're afraid to put a bumper sticker on your car!  Second only to ignorance, cowardice will cause us to lose all.
