Sometimes I wish that Washington DC had some kind of horrible immovable stench that made government reps only stay long enough to vote on bills and then immediately come home to be with their constituents where we can watch 'em. Imagine lobbyists having to travel all over the country to influence our reps rather than this current "one stop shopping" situation. We've got the telephone & and the internet. Our reps shouldn't have to spend much time in Washington.

When the Senate and House were originally built it was that way. They got the issues at a meeting, then went home to their families, JOBS, and constituents. They talked to the people and found out how they felt about the issues then went back to Washington the next month, voted on the issues from the previous month and got the new issues. It was never meant to be a full-time job. They were elected and representative to the people who voted them in. Now, I email my senators and house rep and get nothing back. Told them both to vote no to healthcare bill that raises taxes and vote no to cap and trade. But, since they are both Dems clinging to Obama's pants cuffs I doubt they will listen to any of us.

Mr. Reality, Jesus is real even if you don't believe in Christianity. It's clear from artifacts and historical texts that he was real as was his persecutors. Also, I'd encourage you to check out other history such as the Egyptian stones carrying the story of Moses parting a sea. There is real evidence and proof of Old Testament prophecies fortelling the coming of Jesus. It's very interesting and worth understanding. God bless you anyway.

I can second the suggestion to read "Evidence that Demands a Verdict". It is exhaustive, yet still encourages the reader to prove or disprove the existence of God for him or herself. Here's the nexus of this issue...
Unless you absolutely prove with undisputable facts God doesn't exist, then you are left with the gnawing suggestion that He does, and that you will find out for sure when you die...in which case if He does, you will regret the result. So prove without a doubt that He doesn't. Then you can rest assured when you die, you have nothing beyond this life.

I am a Christian southern white woman who graduated from a private university in TN with a 3.5 average. Re Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Kennedy or any other liberal...I don't care what color their skin is. I just vehemently disagree with their policies. I believe in limited government, fair taxes, life for all (including the unborn), liberty (including spending my hard-earned money where I please which won't be at any Simon malls) and the pursuit of happiness (including supporting the most conservative candidates I can find). Does that make me racist? I think not.

The sole purpose of government, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, is to secure our unalienable rights given us by our Creator. When Government grows beyond this scope, it is usurpation, and liberty is compromised.

I am not advocating a lawsuit unless they are actually in breech, but I will not shop at a Simon mall anymore due to their actions, breech or no. I am also looking into getting the Dallas and FW Tea Parties to get together and protest at their Bedford, TX Headquarters.

Today, my wife and I, along with our 5 year old went to Concord Mills to see Loren's kiosk. Nothing I saw there was offensive or could have been taken as offensive. While there, we were doing some shopping and I went into Spencer's and Hot Topic and was truly offended by what I saw. So, while my wife shopped, my 5 year old and I went to the mall office to forge a complaint. When I asked to speak to the managing person, I was asked what this was in reference to and I told them about the offensive merchandise at Spencer's and Hot Topic. She immediately told me to leave. When I asked why and if this had anything to do with Free Market Warrior she then told me to leave the premises now and another person inside the little office immediately starting calling security. I called my wife and told her what had happened and she started heading our way and as she passed the main office area, she noticed a woman standing outside the hallway with a cell phone in her hand and then she spott...

I reading the article about the malls decision yesterday, and was totally frustrated. I wrote to the reporter and commended her on noting that there were items at other stores that were so offensive that they could not be detailed on TV.

You know, this situation is an interesting one. As a An-Cap, and a person who believes in the importance of the free market, I have to say that Mel Simon should be able to do whatever he wants with his property. I personally believe that he is well within his rights to do whatever he wishes, and have whatever political opinions expressed there...that being said, I also believe that I am within my rights to deny his business my support (money), based on that decision.... that's how the free market works.

But this situation is tricky - because our government long ago look away the absolutist rights of the private property owner. Businesses that provide a public service (which includes restaurants, clubs, malls...) are not allowed to discriminate based on any federally-protected class or category. So while the free market would dictate that Simon be able to do what he wishes, our own country's policies do not support the free market at all.

I sent a message to Simon Properties regarding malls they own/run in my state. You can find them on their web site, then you can find the Spencer's locations in your state on Spencergifts.com web site too. Here is the message I sent to Simon Properties:

"I am in Illinois.
I have become aware that your corporation has not renewed the lease for a business in Charlotte, North Carolina, called "Free Market Warrior".

I understand the reason for the non-renewal relates to several complaints by patrons of the mall who found the kiosk's content offensive to them.
The kiosk's content happens to be conservative in nature.
Apparently, the mall's basis for non renewal is the complaints by patrons. Not the kiosk's content.
That being the case, I wish to file complaints for malls located in Illinois that have the retail store chain "Spencers" in them. These stores sell material I personally find offensive, including sexually explicit adult toys, "gifts" that are ...

... adult toys, "gifts" that are intended to offend, items which promote and encourage the concept that drugs are ok. I could go on more, but that is enough.

Do you, personally, have a problem with the fact that the kiosk's lease was not renewed?

That question is important...because if you do have a problem with the material being banned from the mall, your request to have Spencer's banned is hypocritical...In my mind, if a person is bothered by materials that are on display, that person is free not to buy them or to not patronize the store.
Asking Simon malls to ban Spencer's gifts from the malls is not only incredibly naive, it is in direct opposition to the message that we should be sending - which is to not ban materials or organizations based on personal bias, or the biases of those who are ideologically closed-minded and bigoted towards other ideologies.

The chart lists "Simon Legal Ownership Interest." Concord Mills is 29.6 percent, while South Park is 100 percent ! I have to agree with Repubs/Conservatives that this is BS. You all should have the same right to buy anti-Obama/Republican items as those who bought anti-Bush items. Those who mention Spensors and Hot Topic are on point on how come those stores aren't deemed offensive? I looked at the products and don't find any of them racist or offensive. As a matter of fact, I find them quite funny. I would go ahead and boycott...maybe from a business perspective it would wake up Simon Mills when they see their parking lots and malls half full.

Look at the bumper sticker again. It does not even remotely imply that there is a link between Obama and terrorism. It merely implies that the terrorists themselves are happy that Obama was elected.
